The IBM Power AIX range is based on POWER (Performance Optimisation with enhanced RISC) technology. The P5 and recently introduced P6 models compare favorably to their non-IBM counterparts, as evident in benchmark results. Current features include virtualisation, simultaneous multithreading, UNIX-optimised 64-bit performance and partitioning, whereby 1 or more copies of AIX and Linux can be run simultaneously.
